India and China

This week 'The Economist' is running the India-China story . We really pale in front of China on almost every economic indicator.

There is this wonderful editorial on whether democracy is pulling india down; the conclusion made me feel a bit proud though - "democracy is not valuable only or mainly because of the contribution it may make to development. It is a great good in its own right. A proudly democratic India that grows at 6% a year (8%, which is entirely achievable, would be even better) should be congratulated for having succeeded better than a brutal anti-democratic China which grows at 10% a year. There is more to life than GDP. ". Can't help sounding jingoistic ;-)
